Because Early Beginnings Matter

Alpine Start Speech Therapy provides child-led and family-centered pediatric speech therapy services within children’s natural environments.

What is an Alpine Start?

An Alpine Start refers to starting your mountain adventure early to maximize your success.

Alpine Start Speech Therapy Believes:

Starting Speech Therapy Early Matters...

  • Starting speech therapy early will help develop both expressive language (speaking) and receptive language (understanding), which are vital for cognitive skills such as thinking, problem-solving, and literacy.

  • Starting early is crucial because it taps in to the brain's high adaptability in the first few years of life to build essential communication skills, which in turn supports a child's overall development, academic performance, and emotional well-being.

  • Addressing delays early can prevent small issues from becoming significant, harder-to-fix challenges later in life.

Meet Christy Cheviron, MS, CCC-SLP

I have been working as a pediatric speech-language pathologist since completing my masters degree at Illinois State University in 2001. I am certified through the American Speech-language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and I am Hanen certified, as well.

Life has moved me around the country, allowing me to work in various settings and gain valuable experience in Illinois, Louisiana, California, Nebraska, and Montana.

Montana has been home since 2015 where I have worked primarily in early intervention services providing support to infants and toddlers and their families. I provide services to children of all ages, with my sweet spot being birth to age 5!

I have extensive experience in evaluating and working with a wide range of speech and language concerns, including expressive and receptive language delays, speech sound disorders, stuttering, and social communication difficulties.

My approach is family-centered and play-based, focusing on creating meaningful, engaging interactions that promote language growth in everyday routines. I believe strongly in empowering families with practical tools and strategies to support their child’s communication development at home, school, and in the community.

My goal is to foster confidence, connection, and communication in every child and family I work with.

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time in the mountains running, hiking, skiing, and camping with my husband, two children, and our dog. When not moving in nature, I love traveling and settling down with a good book.

Why Home and Community Based Therapy Works

Natural Environment = Real Life Learning

  • Children learn best where they live and play.

  • Home-based sessions let children practice communication exactly where they use it most, helping skills “stick” faster and feel more natural.

  • Parents and teachers are part of the process and will learn valuable strategies to continue the communication growth long after the therapy session has ended.

  • Children feel safe and relaxed in their natural environment allowing them to fully connect, learn and play.

  • Home based services are convenient, resulting in greater consistency of services.

  • During services, children are surrounded by their favorite people and toys, and every session is tailored to the child’s unique personality, needs, and strengths

It all begins with an Alpine Start!
